Wild Coast
Attractions
The Wild Coast remains one of the least developed stretches of the South African coast, reached mostly on foot or by 4x4 between rivermouths, with Xhosa villages along much of its length. Each year in June and July, the sardine run passes along this coastline as vast shoals move north with the winter current, drawing dolphins, sharks and diving gannets close enough to shore to watch from a boat. The Wild Coast is the best stretch of coastline from which to see it.
Climate
Subtropical, humid, with rain possible in any season.
Activities
Multi-day coastal hiking between overnight stops, rivermouth and lagoon time, and cultural visits by arrangement.
